September 2020, Teacher of the Month, Nick Blanchette

Nick Blanchette is a guitar player in the new haven area who is currently finishing his bachelors degree in jazz studies at western Connecticut state university. Nick started playing guitar at age 10, beginning with rock tunes and the blues. Since then he has studied a wide range of styles including jazz and classical guitar with renowned teachers such as Christopher Morrison, Joe Tinari, Barry Ries, and Val Ramos. Nick has played all around Connecticut and beyond in his own trio that plays a mix between jazz, soul, the blues, funk and classical music, and as a sideman for an assortment of jazz, rock, and funk bands.
